The “March 1 April 1” Meme Proves Just How Long And Insufferable The Last Month Was
March was easily the longest month in history. Change my mind.
I think we can all agree that March 2020 was the longest month in recent memory.
While only having 31 days, March truly felt, at minimum, seven years long. Thanks to COVID-19 coronavirus and the associated necessary social distancing and self-quarantine recommendations, days have run into each and lost meaning all together.
As a result, Wednesday feels no different to Sunday, and it’s hard to know when a new week starts and ends.
To put time into perspective, Parasite only won Best Picture in February despite it feeling like last year’s news and Meghan and Harry announced they were leaving the Royal Family just three months ago. Yep, in January THIS YEAR.
Bong Joon Ho won his Oscars for Parasite last month, in case you wanted to know how long this decade of a month has been.

In response to the end of what was easily the longest month ever, the ‘March 1 April 1’ meme was born. The meme features two photos side-by-side with the goal of demonstrating how blissfully unaware we all were at the start of March for what the following 31 days would involve.
With disheveled photos used for the April 1 portion, the meme perfectly sums up just how brutal the last month has been amidst the all the new rules about going outside and our total lack of social interactions.
Using images of celebrity chefs, clips from movies and tv shows, and shots of celebs from red carpets, people have started sharing their best ‘March 1 April 1″ memes over the last day.

While some flipped the script and used the format of ‘March 1 vs March 31’, the point still stands — March 2020 absolutely whooped all of our asses.
