The long-awaited first trailer for Disney’s new Star Wars television series The Mandalorian has finally arrived, and it’s going straight for fans’ Boba-Fett-loving hearts.

Revealed today at Disney’s D23 Expo, the footage is light on plot details, but it looks like an action-packed return to Star Wars’ universe of spaceships and Stormtroopers.

Written by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian is set a few years after Return of the Jedi — and thus the fall of the Empire, which is clearly illustrated by a bunch of Stormtrooper helmets on spikes.

Pedro Pascal stars as the titular character, a bounty hunter from the planet Mandalore. If his helmet reminds you of another very famous bounty hunter, that’s because Boba Fett hailed from the same planet, which is known for producing mercenaries.

The Mandalorian will have eight episodes, with a cast including Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito and Bill Burr. Taika Waititi will voice the droid IG-11, so we can probably expect some of that good humour both he and the Star Wars universe are known for. It was also announced today that Agents of SHIELD‘s Ming-Na Wen will be joining cast, though her role hasn’t been revealed.

Disney has further released a poster for the show, showing the Mandalorian striding through an arid landscape and looking very badass. The Mandalorian will be available to stream in Australia from Disney+’s November 19 launch.

This wasn’t the only big Star Wars news coming out of D23 today, either. After years of rumours, whispers and wishes upon stars, Disney has now confirmed that Ewan McGregor will wield a lightsaber once more as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

McGregor’s return to the role will come in the form of a Disney+ series instead of a film, and will be set during the same time-frame as Solo. No release date has been announced, but fans have been hoping to see McGregor’s Obi-Wan again for over a decade. It’s exciting enough to know that he’ll be donning the robes again soon.
