One day after the election, votes are still being counted and Donald Trump is up in arms about mail-in ballots turning some states blue.

With votes still being tallied in key swing states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, all hope is being placed on the thousands of uncounted mail-in ballots, much to Trump’s dismay.

As these absentee ballots results have begun to pile up, Twitter has even had to block Trump from tweeting misleading information regarding ballots being “secretly dumped” and “surprise” votes for Joe Biden being “found… all over the place”.

In one tweet that Twitter hid for disputed and potential misleading information, Trump even stated that the democrats were trying to “steal the election”.

None of this is at all surprising, though. From the very start, Trump has been against mail-in voting out of fear of voting fraud.

And even though the rate of electoral fraud is proven to be minimal — between 0.00004% and 0.0009% per cent, to be exact — Trump still desperately urged Americans to vote in-person ahead of the 2020 election.

For example, in a press briefing back in September, Trump called the vote-by-mail ballots a “whole big scam” and even told a false story “reported in one of the newspapers” about “a lot of ballots” with the name Trump on them being tossed into a river. When a reporter interjected and said that the ballots had no names on them, the President responded: “Okay, well, they still found them in a river”.

And on Twitter, Trump has long been claiming that absentee ballots would lead to a “rigged election”. Despite voting twice being a felony in at least 28 states, Trump even encouraged voters to vote via mail and in-person to test the integrity of the mail-in system and to instil further distrust in absentee ballots.

Now, however, despite literally telling republicans to avoid mail-in voting at all costs, Trump is somehow shocked and surprised that most of these absentee ballots being counted are not for him.

Instead of understanding that this significant lack of republican mail-in votes is a direct result of his own actions in the lead up to the election, Trump simply thinks that it’s all still one big scam.

Trump even went so far as to claim that he would take an election loss to the Supreme Court, as he prematurely claimed victory over the election in an address to the nation yesterday.

“This [election] is a fraud on the American public. We want the law to be used in a proper manner so we’ll be going to the US Supreme Court,” he said. “We want all voting to stop. We don’t want them to find any ballots at four o’clock in the morning and add them to the list.”

As expected, this childish response to, what is essentially, losing was quickly called out by people online.

As Donald Trump continued to sook about Biden gaining leads from mass amounts mail-in ballots, people begun to hail the mail-in ballot as the true hero of the US election — and hopefully, the thing that saves America from another for years of Trump in office.

So here are all the best memes about mail-in ballots, the saviours of 2020:
