Lunch Club! ‘Community’ Just Got A Season 5 Trailer
Your favourite sad-sack sitcom is back for another year, with a little less Donald Glover and a lot less Chevy Chase.
The little-seen but much-loved Community returns in January for a fifth season, with eccentric creator Dan Harmon back at the helm after his firing and subsequent reinstatement. A new trailer was released today, showing Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) returning to Greendale as a teacher, so clearly they’re not doing the ‘Season 4 never happened’ thing, as some predicted.
Other takeaways from the trailer? Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) are still best prankster buddies, although, as previously reported, Glover is only in five of the season’s 13 episodes, so their bromance may be short-lived. It looks like Pierce is gone for good, too, but that’s no surprise given Chevy Chase’s very public feud with Harmon and his not-so-secret loathing of Community as a whole.
The whole trailer is framed like an inspiring teacher movie. Maybe Community will finally get to have its Yo Teach…! moment this year?
The show returns to screens in the US on January 2; we’ll presumably see it on SBS2 at some point after that.
