It’s Australia’s night of nights, the peak of our celebrity culture, the glitz and glamour — the TV Week Logies.

Held amongst the bright lights and fibro of the Gold Coast’s Star Casino, this year’s Logies were dominated by two overwhelming narratives — the first being that Tom Gleeson’s dead-horse of a joke campaign finally managed to win him the Gold Logie.

“I have ruined the Logies, and it’s never going to happen again,” he said in his speech, after admitting that he’d been drinking heavily. “Our industry is dying, and I’m part of that!”

The culture of it! The never-ending glamour of it! The Australia of it all!

There was probably a second point of cultural discussion to be had, but unfortunately nobody could hear what it was, because the overwhelming audio of the entire night was all of Australia’s best and brightest quiz show hosts eating.

The cacophony of cutlery noises, was simply overwhelming.

People were amused.
