A lobster — yes, A LOBSTER — has been spotted going for a morning stroll in the Melbourne suburb of Berwick.

Footage shared by ABC Melbourne shows the crustacean can be seen taking a casual stroll down the road, presumably a walk of shame after a big night on the town. “Good morning Melbourne. A partly cloudy day with a top of 19. FYI there’s also a lobster on the loose in Berwick,” the ABC captioned the video.

Sure, Sydney had the great Ape Escape of 2020 — in which three baboons ran rampant through the city after escaping from a hospital — but does that compare to a lobster taking a morning walk around the neighbourhood? I don’t think so.

It is unclear if this is a pet lobster, or perhaps a particularly lucky animal who has escaped a fancy restaurant. But if you’re in the market for a new pet — or a free gourmet lunch — you’d best be getting on your bike and heading to Berwick.

Naturally, Melburnians were quick assert the lobster was somehow connected to Liberal leader Matthew Guy — who dined with alleged Mafia boss Tony Madafferi and his associates at a Melbourne lobster restaurant back in 2017, where they allegedly discussed potential secret donations to the party. It is unclear whether this particular lobster had anything to do with that.

Unfortunately, the ABC hasn’t given us an update on the welfare and whereabouts of the lobster, but Junkee is making enquiries.
