Blinky, the four-metre koala-skeleton hybrid who cries in pain and breathes smoke is back on our streets — just in time for the holiday season.

The terrifying creation is brought to you by Extinction Rebellion and is cruising the streets of Victoria right now, aiming to raise awareness for the findings of the state’s Inquiry into Ecosystem Decline report.

Look at this thing! It looks like anyone over the age of 21 trying to recover after a night out. Terrifying stuff, really.

Honestly, if a four-metre giant drop bear literally screaming and crying at you isn’t enough to get you to care about the planet, I think you’re beyond saving because this is pure nightmare fuel.

The protesters marched from Melbourne Museum, past the Department of Environment, Water, Land and Planning, then onto Parliament House before finishing at Treasury Gardens.

“We demand a proportionate response to the biodiversity crisis, including legal and policy reform, and a substantial increase in funding for threatened species recovery work,” Extinction Rebellion said in a statement.

According to the report, Victoria has been grossly underfunding environmental and biodiversity issues by literally billions of dollars. And, as you’d expect, this leaves thousands of vulnerable native species at risk of extinction.

“We have listened to the perspectives of many Victorians, including scientists, First Peoples, environmentalists, farmers and many more to inform our conclusions,” said Environmental and Planning Committee Chair Sonja Terpstra in a statement when the report was released.

“Despite the size and scope of this Committee’s report there is still a great deal more work to be done to address the environmental challenges facing our state.”

The terrifying giant koala parade comes just a month after Extinction Rebellion introduced us all to this real-life drop bear during a mock koala funeral in November.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go scream into a pillow for the rest of the afternoon in an attempt to un-see this monstrosity.
