“You Didn’t Deserve This”: Tributes Pour In For Juice WRLD, Dead At 21
The rapper was pronounced dead this morning after suffering a seizure at Chicago airport.
Tributes are pouring in for rapper Juice WRLD after news broke this morning that he had died, age 21.
As reported by TMZ, the rapper — real name Jarad Anthony Higgins — suffered a seizure and bled from the mouth after landing at Chicago’s Midway airport. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving; his cause of death remains unknown.
Juice WRLD is best known for his songs ‘Lucid Dreams’ and 2017 breakthrough hit ‘All Girls Are The Same’, and is regarded as a pioneer of emo-rap, popularised on Soundcloud.

He released two albums, most recently Death Race For Love, many EPs and two mixtapes, with a third, a collaboration with Ski Mask the Slump God, in the works. Many of his songs addressed issues of anxiety, self harm and drug abuse.
Upon news of his death, social media was flooded with lamentations from rappers and musicians, including the likes of The Weeknd, Drake, Meek Mill, Maggie Rogers and more.

“He knows our hearts,” wrote Chance the Rapper on Instagram, accompanying a photo of Juice.
“I really wish we had more talks like that one night in LA. Dude. This is ridiculous. Millions of people, not just in Chicago but around the world are hurting because of this and don’t know what to make of it. Im sorry. Love you and God bless your soul.”
Also on Instagram, Drake wrote “I would like to see all the younger talent live longer and I hate waking up hearing another story filled with blessings was cut short.” Juice is the latest of several young rappers to pass away suddenly in the past year, including Mac Miller, XXXTentacion, Nipsey Hussle and Lil Peep. Lil Nas X echoed the sentiment, writing “rip juice. so sad how often this is happening lately to young talented rising artists”.
Collaborator Ski Mask the Slump God posted a picture of him with Juice on Instagram, writing the late rapper didn’t “deserve this”.
“I Love You So Much,” he wrote. “You Didn’t Deserve This , I Cant Explain How Much It Hurts Me To Lose You , Fuck This Life Bruh , Rest In Peace You Know I’ll Carry Your Energy Forever !!!!!!!! I Can’t Lose Any More Brothers.”
In November, Juice WRLD played three shows in Australia. Find more tributes below, and read a tribute from Guardian writer Al Horner.
