The Internet Can’t Decide If They Love Or Hate Jazzypurrs, The Naked Skeleton Cat With No Eyes

To make it all that little bit more horrifying, Jazzypurrs actually loves getting her empty eye sockets scratched.

Animals with abnormalities often instantly fall into the ‘extra adorable’ category.

You seriously can’t help but fall in love with any limping dog that has three legs, or the kitties who only have one working eye. But sometimes there are exceptions to the rule, and that exception might just be Jazzypurrs, the 12-year-old sphynx cat with eye sockets you can see.

As sphynx cats have no fur, when Jazzypurrs (real name Jasper) had to have his eyes completely removed due to corneal ulcers, his eye sockets were left completely bare. This means you can see right through where his eyes used to be. Two, giant gaping head holes. A spooky skeleton cat, if you will.

For reference, when most cats have their eyes removed, their fur ends up covering the sockets, which makes them look like they just have their eyes closed. But as Jazzypurrs has no fur, the giant sockets where his eyes are meant to be are very clear and pronounced.

It’s tough because sphynx cats are already pretty hard to find cute as it is — considering they look like giant ball-sacks and all — but for some strange reason, Jazzypurrs is actually… kinda adorable and badass.

After being diagnosed with feline herpes virus, losing both his eyes to ulcers, and having a mild stroke, Jazzypurrs is somehow still kicking along. And while the almost-translucent shell of a cat gives off very sinister, gargoyle-esque vibes, photos and videos uploaded by his owner Kelli proves he’s just a big, bald baby.

Mama, what do you mean this isn’t MY dinner? ————————————————————————Shop link in the bio! For those who don’t know Jazzy’s story, he was adopted at 2 years old seemingly healthy. After a couple of years he was diagnosed with FHV (feline herpes virus), but at the time all that meant was he was a sniffly boy. Then in November 2013 he got a corneal ulcer in his right eye. It was so bad that removal was the only option. He went on being a happy, healthy, now one eyed kitty. Until September 2018 when he ended up with a corneal ulcer in his remaining eye. Again so bad that removal was the only option. As scary as the news was that Jasper would now be totally blind, he adapted super well. Finally in April 2019 he had a mild stroke. It was a terrifying experience trying to figure out what was going on, why he woke me up spinning in circles, but the diagnoses was a relief. The cause is unknown, which is unfortunately common, but it means it wasn’t caused by any of the awful things that we know can cause one. Since then he’s recovered almost 100%, he walks a bit more cautiously and occasionally is unsure of where is is and will meow for help, but otherwise he’s perfect. He’s a very happy kitty, who is otherwise extremely healthy. He’s 12 years old, but the vet says there’s no reason to think he won’t live another 10 years. #jazzypurr #blindcat #sphynx #sphynxcat #nakedkitty #sphynxlair #catsofinstagram #catstagram #instacat #cat #kitty #animals #sphynxofinstagram #sphynxstagram #thedailynude #sphynxoftheday #hairlesscat #catsdaily #oddkitty #thedodo

However, some have been entirely turned off the eyeless sphynx, thanks to one video in particular. For terrifying and unknown reasons, Jazzypurrs loves to have his eye holes fingered and scratched.

The cat’s owner likes to call this activity “socket scritching”, while I prefer the term “nightmare fuel”. How this strange activity was discovered, I don’t know. I don’t really want to know.

But the video understandably turned fans of the cat into haters, as they begun to refer to Jazzypurrs as a “cursed, nude cat” who looked like a “Halloween decoration” and “clay that somebody just shoved two fingers into”.

Others were left feeling conflicted between feelings of wholesomeness and horror. And for the rest, the eye socket scratching actually made Jazzypurrs seem even more cool and metal than he was previously. Personally, I’m torn on the spooky skeleton cat, but Jazzypurrs 60,000 Instagram followers prove that he does have some fans out there for whatever reason.

For those still scared about the nightmares this eyeless cat will bring, this was Jazzypurrs when he had eyes. Still terrifying and awfully ball sack-looking, but a whole lot less horrifying and skeletal.
