Was James Corden humping a car in a mouse costume on anyone’s Bingo card for 2021? It definitely wasn’t on mine, but here we are.

To promote Amazon Prime’s Cinderella movie, Corden and his co-stars Camila Cabello, Billy Porter and Idina Menzel quite literally stopped traffic, flash-mobbing commuters. The group performed this near heinous act of publicity to Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Let’s Get Loud’ as they donned elaborate costumes that perfectly coincided with their characters in the film.

Corden is dressed as a mouse, corresponding to his role as one of Cinderella’s famously helpful mice friends in Amazon’s live-action take. Billy Porter is playing Cinderella’s fairy godparent, while broadway legend Idina Menzel as Cinderella’s step-mum. Camila Cabello is, of course, the titular Cinderella.

The quartet’s flash mobbing is heartily cringeworthy all around. While many may find it festive and harmless, Corden’s thrusting at innocent bystander traffic that takes the cake.  Naturally, the late-night host is being appropriately roasted on Twitter once again.

Once again I find myself asking how exactly James Corden has ended up in front of so many eyeballs? Especially since his presence in pop culture has rarely been met with anything more positive than mild amusement.

Just like his embarrassing roles in Cats and The Prom, Amazon’s Cinderella appears to be yet more fuel for the James Cordon roast. Who keeps casting him? Who?!

“Imagine having to explain to your boss that you’re going to be late to work because James Corden dressed in a rat suit was thrusting at cars in the middle of traffic?????” tweeted Australian Twitch streamer, Paladin Amber.

Another tweet from comic author, Gail Simone read, “Say what you will about Thanos destroying half of all life in the universe, at least he never appeared in a furry musical flash mob with James Corden.”

If Corden’s thrusting mouse antics have appealed to you, Cinderella will stream on Amazon Prime from September 3.
