Voting for the Hottest 100 of the Decade opens today, so you know what that means — it’s time to spend hours agonising over your own choices!

The process of picking a shortlist is always tough, of course, but the sheer amount of material to sift through here makes it even tougher than usual. I mean, it can be hard to condense a year of listening into a short list, let alone ten years of listening — how do you choose what makes ‘Get Lucky’ better than ‘This Is America’? How do you create a list that’s representative of your tastes, and covers all the genres that you love, without seeming surface-level and shallow? How do you stop yourself from getting totally overwhelmed?

Well, one way to make the voting process smoother is turning to the lists of others. And in that regard, the ABC has been particularly helpful, releasing a list of triple j presenters and their choices for you to crib from.

The lists are, as you’d imagine, enjoyably varied. Sally Coleman of hip-hop duo Coda Conduct and a co-presenter of triple j’s Breakfast program has a predictably rap heavy list, voting for Leikeli47’s ‘Money’ and Azealia Banks’ ‘212’. Her co-host Erica Mallett has quite a lot of overlap, including the Azealia Banks megahit as well as Kendrick Lamar’s ‘The Art Of Peer Pressure’ and Mallrat’s Hottest 100 overachiever ‘Charlie’.

In fact, there’s not a single presenter who hasn’t carved out a lot of space for hip-hop in their list. Bridget Hustwaite voted for Kanye West’s ‘Monster’, Lewis Hobba of Drive for Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Backseat Freestyle’ and Lunch’s Dave Woodhead for Tyler, The Creator’s ‘Earfquake.’

Of them all, Declan Byrne of Home & Hosed has probably the most varied list. He’s voted for everyone from Courtney Barnett to RÜFÜS DU SOL and Kanye West, touching on rap, pop, Aussie indie, and everything inbetween. For a full list of the presenters and their picks, head to the ABC website.
