Here’s Vanilla Ice Rapping About ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Because The ’90s Will Never Die

This clip is infinitely more enjoyable if you imagine Vanilla Ice just stumbled into the stadium off the street, mic in hand, perpetually ready for the possibility that, at any given second, hordes of people might let him satiate their need for ’90s nostalgia.

“Ladies and gentleman,” he announces, grandly. “New York City! Madison Square Garden!” he says, confirming his location with a slight upward inflection. “Turn around!”

Literally not one person was paying attention to him despite the fact he’s a 48-year-old man in a flat-brim cap and neon satin puffer jacket.

Of course, this took place to celebrate the premiere of the upcoming film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows — the sequel to 2014’s much-derided, Michael Bay-produced TMNT: The Secret Of The Ooze. Unlike its dark and gritty predecessor, this film looks set to embrace the light-hearted insanity of the turtles’ story and that’s likely a huge reason why the marketing team hauled Vanilla Ice away from his very important political duties to work on promo.

The rapper performed this same song at the height of his career in the 1991 version of The Secret Of The Ooze.

Things have changed a little since then.
