Well folks, we’re here: Grimes has announced she’s expecting a child with boyfriend Elon Musk.
The artist posted the news on Instagram a short time ago in typical Grimes fashion, with a ghostly baby superimposed over her naked stomach.
At first, fans began speculating the image was art for her new album Miss Anthropocene, but Grimes then appeared to confirm the news, writing that she was “knocked up” in a reply to a comment about her not censoring her nipples in the photo.
“I thought about censoring them for a hot minute haha (this may get taken down anyway) but the photo is so much less feral without the nipples,” she wrote. “Plus being knocked up is a very feral and war-like state of being. Might as well be what it is.
“Plus most of my friends told me not to post them so then I was afflicted with reverse psychology. Interrogated my shame on it and decided it was some weird internalised self hatred to feel uncomfortable about my body. Hope you’re having a nice day!”
That being said, this is Grimes — she could be “knocked up” with creative power or ideas for the continuation of the human race. But still, for the moment it really does look like Grimes will be having a baby.
