Thanks To A Hilarious Quiz Show Answer, We All Have To Call Greta Thunberg ‘Sharon’ Now
And Thunberg is in on the joke.
All of you who hoped that 2020 might be a little quieter and calmer than 2019 are shit outta luck, because there’s a new meme going around, and it involves calling climate activist Greta Thunberg ‘Sharon’.
Okay. Let’s start at the beginning.
During a recent episode of Celebrity Mastermind, British actor Amanda Henderson was asked to name the author of 2019’s Nobody’s Too Small To Make A Difference. Clearly stumped, Henderson decided to shoot her shot, and blurted out “Sharon”, shrugging her shoulders. (To be honest, I empathise: when I myself was asked the technical name for a young elephant on my own Mastermind appearance, I blurted out, “a baby elephant.”)
The answer was not Sharon, it was Greta Thunberg. But who cares if she got it wrong? Instead of a boring and normal correct answer, we got one so chaotic that the whole clip is bursting at the seams with the deeply erratic vibe that will definitely come to define life on planet Earth for the next 365 days.

Anyway, because snafus like this are catnip to the internet, ‘Sharon’ has started trending on Twitter. Now, thousands of memesters are using it as an opportunity to test out their photoshop skills, and are creating decidedly bizarre viral content.

Even better, it seems like Thunberg herself has decided to get in on the fun, changing her Twitter name to the meme.

Yep, seems like 2020 is going to be another long, confusing year alright.
