This Video Of A Hot Firefighter Slowly Breaking Down Bushfire Conspiracy Theories Is Perfection
Taking on misinformation one lie at a time.
It is one of the most urgent issues of our time: how do we stop the spread of conspiracy theories?
In no small part thanks to a lack of regulation from social media conglomerates like Facebook, Twitter and TikTok, straight-up fabrications are permeating every part of our culture. Coronavirus, 5G, bushfires — theorists are beginning to dismantle the truth claims behind all kinds of well-researched and scientific-documented phenomena. It’s eroding trust in our democracy, and, in the age of a pandemic, it’s doing a genuine social harm.
So what are we meant to do about it? Well, if you’re the firefighter in a new video being shared wildly on Twitter, then you: A) look very hot, and B) calmly break down every single lie.
See, over the past few days, a video purporting to uncover the “truth” behind America’s wildfires has gone viral on TikTok. It’s an old fashioned bit of misinformation — the young person in the video claims that the fires just “stop” around the border (obviously wrong), and shares a clearly doctored photo of a biochemical sign.
But hey, you don’t want to hear me break this nonsense down. You wanna hear a hot firefighter do it.
So here you go. You’re welcome:

Is this the new remedy to the spread of misinformation? Here’s to hoping.
