Everybody Is Roasting Emma Watson For Her Deeply Unfortunate Accent In ‘Little Women’
"does emma watson's accent count as bullying"
The first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated adaptation of Little Women is here, and everyone is just so excited about these insanely tiny ladies!
Little Women, the film where the women are the size of cats — blows your mind what we can do with modern technology.
Anyway, the film looks amazing — Saoirse Ronan has been playing versions of Jo March her entire life, while Timothée Chalamet was literally bred in a vat to play the role of genial Civil-war era fuckboi Laurie.
The Laura Dern of it all? The Meryl STREEP of it all? Break my collarbones and throw me into the frozen pond that Amy almost dies in, I cannot wait.
There’s also a bunch of other great casting, including: Emma Watson, Florence Pugh and Eliza Scanlen.
However, Emma Watson’s famously non-American voice has gathered some criticism, in the sense that people think her accent sounds awful.
Let’s all listen!
Personally, she sounds fine to me, but I reckon to Americans it must be as grating as the Australian accents on The Good Place.
Here’s what they are saying, and by them, I mostly mean Hunter Harris from Vulture, who is my online hero:
