Aussies Are Very Mad At This American Journo For Not Knowing How To Eat A Meat Pie
Prepare to go to war.
An American journalist is being (rightfully) savaged by irate Aussies on social media after filming himself butchering a meat pie with a knife and fork.
ESPN reporter Darren Rovell posted the offending video to Twitter, after being sent a Four’N Twenty pie by the Philadelphia 76ers. Turns out the team has started selling pies at their games, in honour of their gun power forward Ben Simmons, who is from Melbourne.
Rovell, in his defence, was actually quite complimentary on the Australian delicacy. But his technique left a lot to be desired.
The @sixers, inspired by Australian star Ben Simmons, are now selling Meat Pies at their games. I put them to the taste test this morning. pic.twitter.com/vgtSDaeLcv

Even the Queensland cops got involved.
Steady on, you could get cautioned for treating a meat pie like that ? #FreshPrince https://t.co/o0SgyKxqat

It got so bad that Rovell eventually returned to Twitter to apologise.
I have been destroyed all day for how I apparently tested out the Australian meat pie being offered at 76ers games. Now that the police are involved, I would like to extend my sincere apologies. https://t.co/HNa24A5YGc

But by then, it was too late.
i will forward your apology on to our prime minister @TurnbullMalcolm and report back with his response, but know this, the ships have already left the harbour and the jets are in the sky
