The BBC has released the first trailer of the wildly anticipated new Sally Rooney adaptation, Conversations With Friends.

The series, set to drop sometime in May, will bring Rooney’s beloved 2017 debut to life — less than two years since her novel Normal People was also adapted to the small screen in an acclaimed series.

Normal People director Lenny Abrahamson has been brought back on for Conversations With Friends, which will star newcomer Alison Oliver as Frances, Sasha Lane as Bobbi, The Favourite’s Joe Alwyn as Nick, and Sex Education/Girls star Jemima Kirke as Melissa.

“I don’t think anybody could have predicted, in our world of streamers, that it would’ve gone quite as brilliantly as it did in terms of people’s response, and it was really gratifying,” Abrahamson told Vanity Fair about Normal People. “There’ll be a different response to Conversations With Friends, because it’s a different kind of show.”

The show will screen, of course, on BBC in the UK and Hulu in the US — Normal People was picked up by Stan here in Australia, so we’re making a bet it will be the same for CWF. Watch the trailer below.
