Everyone shut the hell up because the beloved sitcom Community is finally getting a movie after all.

“There is an outline for it,” creator Dan Harmon told Newsweek, which is also what I told my editor about an article I pitched three months ago. “There’s a product put together and pitched out in the world. I guess that’s how real it is.”

While speaking to the outlet about another one of his shows — Ricky and Morty — the outlet looks to have accosted the writer for an update on this much more serious situation.

Community of course is the US sitcom starring Donald Glover, Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Joel McHale, and Gillian Jacobs as a bunch of community college students attempting to bounce back after various periods of failure.

While the series officially wrapped up in 2015 after six seasons, “six seasons and a movie” — a kind of Community slogan born from a weird participatory relationship between the show and its fans — still looms over its legacy.

And while the movie has not officially been greenlit, Harmon told Newsweek that it’s “definitely going to happen” but it “may be between one and eight years from now,” given that nature of show business, timelines, pandemics, natural disasters, and what we assume is the very intimidating task of trying to book in time with Childish Gambino.

The cast actually reunited over zoom in 2020 for a table read and Q&A — with Pedro Pascal, for some reason — during which McHale teased that Glover would probably be too busy to partake. Glover, however, seemed keen to make it work, reminiscing on how special his time on the show was.

In speaking with the outlet, Harmon was careful to manage his fans’ expectations. “It still doesn’t mean there’s going to be a movie tomorrow,” he cautioned. “It means there is definitely going to be one.”

In the meantime, we’ll be watching Troy & Abed In The Morning snippets on repeat, buttered noodles in tow.
