Young people: who are they, and what do they want? That’s the question that Channel 7 set out to answer in a cringeworthy news story about teenage slang.

The story went to air on Monday night, and offered a helpful guide for parents struggling to understand their kids, what with their emojis and Snapchats and such.

“It seems teenagers are throwing shade at their parents with new slang taking over teen conversations,” the segment explains. “Just when older generations thought they’d caught up with terms like ‘lol’, a new vocabulary trend is emerging.”

It goes on to warn that words like ‘lit’ and ‘salty’ are being used by teens in everyday conversations. The story is accompanied by random footage of young playing with their phones and sitting around in parks. WHAT ARE THEY PLANNING??
