The Internet Is Sharing Deeply Boring Stories About Meeting Celebrities And They’re Charming
They're just like us -- they put their fancy pants on one leg at a time, with the help of a butler.
Celebrities! If you take away the crippling burden of fame, their millions of dollars and their couture gowns, they’re just like us. You could find them on the street, screaming at a tram or buying a loaf of gum, like a regular Tom, Penis or Harry.
Over the weekend, podcast host and writer John Moe took to Twitter to ask people for their most boring, mundane and inconsequential celebrity encounters. As it turns out, lots of people have seen or heard a celebrity doing something absolutely normal.
As the common saying goes, there are apparently up to five times as many celebrities as people in New York City.
Your most boring, mundane, inconsequential celebrity encounter. Go!

People were quick to respond with some truly pedestrian encounters with the rich and famous, proving that you could find a celebrity ANYWHERE — roaming the streets at night, lurking in a dentist’s waiting room, crawling through your walls and ceiling in a privileged swarm.

I talked to Martin Freeman for about 15 minutes in a queue in the dry cleaners because i recognised him and thought he played hockey with my brother. He chatted the whole time and never once let on who he was. https://t.co/ViLzKSJo5a

Sometimes celebrities can be helpful, and can really give back to society from which they extract all the gems and child-blood that they require in order to live.
I once asked a random guy for directions. He turned around. It was Will Ferrell. He gave me directions. They were correct. https://t.co/hG3Zppd7cH

I asked Winona Ryder where the bathroom was, and she very kindly said it was “down the hall.” https://t.co/1eHsOP9Pgx

But probably the most interesting stories are the ones that seem benign and boring on the outside, but upon further investigation are actually deeply cooked. Scratch at the perfectly moisturised facade of a celebrity and you will discover a true weirdo underneath.
I was once in a store when Willem Dafoe came in and purchased a bird skeleton, some rodent skeleton, and another albino rodent preserved in formaldehyde. Then he shook some hands and smiled and left. https://t.co/llvKJ0vCDT

Once, as I was leaving a cafe a woman was entering and I asked if it was raining outside. “Not yet” she said, “but it will.” She was Martha Stewart. It did rain. https://t.co/WQ9ADVvGit

And sometimes celebrities need to be put in their places! Just because they are part of the secret cabal that runs every government in the world, doesn’t mean they are the boss of us!
One time Mika Kunis tried to play with a dog I was walking when we were in line at a cafe, and I (not recognizing her at firs) said, “I’m actually trying to get her to calm down.” She was very apologetic.

I was trying to take a picture of the piranhas at the Central Park Zoo and right before I clicked, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles stepped next to me and ruined my picture with a reflection of their legs. https://t.co/Ynkf4u6ZoG
