Carly Rae Jepsen Performed ‘E•MO•TION’ With A Symphony Orchestra And It’s Just Too Perfect
We're not worthy.
Last September, pop queen Carly Rae Jepsen performed her song ‘Your Type’ at Canada’s Polaris Music Prize, backed by the string quartet from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
The performance was a hit, and both parties enjoyed it so much they teamed up again last Saturday night — this time to perform Jepsen’s pop masterpiece E•MO•TION in its entirety.
Every single song from the album was stripped back and rebuilt, with strings replacing synths, flutes replacing guitars, and a whole horn section laying down the iconic riff from ‘Run Away With Me’.
She even threw in a version of her 2012 breakout single ‘Call Me Maybe’ for good measure. Watch a bunch of clips from the performance below, and listen to a full fan recording of the set below that.
Jepsen never had a full solo tour in support of E•MO•TION, a strange decision that seemed like yet another mistake in its infamously poor promotion and rollout. She locked in some support slots for pop-rock band Hedley earlier last year, but for the most part her appearances have been sparse.
Unfortunately for Australian audiences, the orchestra show was billed as a one-off — but we can dream, right?
