Despite record numbers of Australians having enrolled to vote in the upcoming postal survey on marriage equality, the actual fight for LGBTQ+ rights in this country is only just beginning.

When the ballot papers arrive in your letter box in mid-September, you’ll need to remember to actually vote. And to help you remember, a group of top-shelf Australian musicians are coming together next month for a massive show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, raising funds and awareness for the national Equality Campaign.

The Jezabels, Killing Heidi, Sarah Blasko, Holly Throsby, Andy Bull,  Frenzal Rhomb’s Jay and Lindsay and Sydney’s Jack Colwell are just a few of the acts that have been locked in to play — each artist generously donating their time to the cause.

“I am embarrassed that marriage equality is still an unresolved issue in Australia — a country that loves to tout the fair go for all,” says Killing Heidi’s Ella Hooper. “That slogan rings hollow when ‘all’ are clearly not treated equally or given access to the same rights, procedures and protections of the law.”

“It’s high time that the majority stood up for what is right,” adds Colwell. “As a gay man it means a huge amount to me that all these musicians, both queer and non-queer, have come together to show their support for the LGBT+ community.”

All proceeds from the event will go to Australian Marriage Equality, the registered charity that is coordinating the national Equality Campaign. Tickets are on sale now, so go see some great music and vote ‘Yes’.
