Clear your schedule: the trailer for Bridgerton’s long-anticipated second season is finally here, and you’ll probably be watching it on repeat until March 25.

Word to the wise: it’s best not to pretend you’re too high brow be excited about this. In vain, I have tried to do the same. It does not work.

In case you missed it, Shonda Rhimes’ first offering of the Netflix series soothed our pandemic malaise in the sumptuous (albeit ahistorical) regency love story between Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Bassett (Regé-Jean Page).

But those two are married now, and Rhimes has moved us on to a new potential couple: Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), who we know as Daphne’s philandering brother from season one, is taking the helm as leading man on the want of a wife, and his obvious love interest Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

Ashley, known for her role in Sex Education, will be making her debut on the wildly successful show, as will her onscreen sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran) and mother Lady Mary Sharma (Shelley Conn). Calam Lynch and Rupert Young will also be joining the cast of the second season.

The trailer sets up an obvious love triangle between Kate, Edwina and Anthony, and as you’d expect, it all looks very scandalous and sexy.

The trailer also includes a cheeky nod to Colin Firth’s notorious wet shirt scene in BBC’s 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, when Anthony and one of his brothers end up in a lake after tripping over a corgi. The writing staff definitely enjoyed themselves, here, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

In other Bridgerton news, the show has also released the full soundtrack to the second season, which — if it’s taking cues from season one — will feature in the form of orchestral covers . The track list includes Nirvana’s ‘Stay Away’, Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’, Harry Styles’ ‘Sign Of The Times’ and the famous Bollywood song ‘Khabi Khushi Khabi Gham.’
