Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph And Jack Black Star In Bad Lip Readings Of The Original ‘Star Wars’ Films

If you're not a Star Wars fan, the nonsense seems weirdly believable.

Having never seen any of the Star Wars films I can neither confirm nor deny that Darth Vader was originally played by Jack Black. It seems entirely within the realm of possibility that the Sith Lord first got on everyone’s bad side by emailing dirty pictures of himself. I could completely accept that at some point in this epic space opera you all love, Harrison Ford has an argument with an alien about fireworks and a monkey he keeps in a bottle.

On that note, here’s a very faithful clip from the original 1977 film:

Unfortunately the internet tells me this is not true. To celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the legends from Bad Lip Reading have teamed up with comedians Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Jack Black to re-dub the original trilogy. Accordingly, The Empire Strikes Back now features Yoda performing a jaunty little song about seagulls before implying he’s going to attack Luke Skywalker in his sleep, as well as Han Solo making obnoxious fart noises with his hands.

Return Of The Jedi gets similarly musical with Jabba the Hutt pulling out a deeply disturbing R&B jam about getting it on with Leia, and at one point Obi-Wan threatens to choke Luke over his lack of knowledge about indie music.

It may seem ridiculous, but that’s a hard argument to make considering the original films are literally about a guy lusting after his sister and dealing with his family angst while floating through space with a robot.
