These Beyond The Valley Videos Will Make You Desperately Miss Music Festivals

We'd do just about anything to sing 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' in a sweaty festival tent again.

As the year stretches on, it’s becoming clear that our usual summer festival season is going to look very different to what it did last year. Yesterday, Victoria was plunged into an even harsher lockdown, with a curfew now in place between 8pm and 5am across Melbourne, in order to stem the flow of COVID-19 cases across the state.

The rest of the country might be tentatively opening up — although New South Wales is on a knife edge with new cases continuing to crop up — but it seems unlikely that any major events or festivals will happen in the short term, a previously unthinkable proposition.

We’re collectively experiencing the shittiest version of FOMO, as it were, and any clips of life in the Beforetimes only succeed in exacerbating the affliction. Recently, music and events collective Untitled Group joined TikTok, sharing some footage taken at their festival Beyond The Valley across the New Year period last year.

Normally, this footage would elicit a smile, a small chuckle — but now, we experience a longing so intense that it can only be cured by singing ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight’ while [REDACTED] and surrounded by 5000 strangers.

What we would give to witness The Veronicas in full flight…tearing through the unofficial national anthem ‘Untouched’.

Or to walk through a portaloo to find a secret club…

Or to watch Dom Dolla unleash the drop in a crowd of 10,000 people…

Or any part of this Denis Sulta set at Pitch Music & Arts Festival:

Let’s hope we can get back there soon.
