Amy Poehler Is Directing A Movie For Netflix And The Cast Is A+
Wine Country will star some of the funniest women in the business.
Amy Poehler is gearing up to make her first feature film. And fittingly, it’s going to be about a bunch of awesome, hilarious women getting absolutely shitfaced.
The Parks and Recreation lead will direct, produce and star in Wine Country for Netflix. She’ll be joined on camera by a killer cast of comedians, including Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Maya Rudolph and Emily Spivey. Basically it’s a big ol’ Saturday Night Live reunion, which is fine by us.
Netflix announced the project via a video of the cast singing ‘Whenever I Call You Friend’ by Kenny Loggins and Stevie Nicks, which is all the proof I need that this movie is going to be a masterpiece.
It’s happening—Amy Poehler’s directorial debut, Wine Country, is coming soon to Netflix! Starring Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Maya Rudolph, Emily Spivey and featuring Tina Fey. Get excited. Get real excited. pic.twitter.com/kZedPmzeVC

I would be satisfied if the entire movie was just this video extended to an hour and 30 minutes. https://t.co/QkfR9pBWOd

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is about a group of friends who visit California wine country for a 50th birthday celebration. Spivey wrote the screenplay along with Liz Cackowski, who also worked on SNL.
The film will begin shooting later this month, so don’t expect to see it for a little while yet. In the meantime, Poehler will also be appearing on Making It, a new craft competition show she is hosting with her Parks and Rec co-star Nick Offerman.
