Hello and welcome, fellow ’90s witch enthusiasts. This whole infuriating thing is going to be a lot more pleasant if you’re listening to Love Spit Love’s ultra-angsty cover of The Smiths’ ‘How Soon Is Now’. Get back into the groove of things. Enjoy the constant muted confusion of Shannen Doherty’s face. Scream “I AM HUUUUUMAN AND I NEED TO BEEEEE LOVED” like the little feelings-filled dork you are.

Now you’re fully prepared for this: Alyssa Milano is spilling news of a potential Charmed reboot on Twitter. Though she states outright that nothing has been confirmed, Milano says she knows “for sure” that CBS has something on the way.

Good news: this is totally feasible as CBS have the rights to the show after it aired on their now-defunct affiliate channel The WB from 1998-2006. Bad news: Milano says none of the original cast will be involved.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard these kind of rumours.

Last month, Milano told Entertainment Tonight a revival was “going to happen any second”. “We still have such a cult following; I feel like someone’s going to put that together at some point,” she said. Speaking of the original cast including herself, Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, and Rose McGowan she added, “we’re all totally on board for that!”

This comes a few years after the announcement of a similar project. In 2013, Vulture confirmed a CBS “re-imagining of the original series” was 100 percent on its way and being co-written by Party of Five‘s Chris Keyser. There was a swift reaction against it with many (Milano included) saying it was “too soon”.

It was around this time that Milano threw out the idea of making a movie instead and Shannen Doherty was the first to put up her hand.

The hype and backlash around the whole thing eventually fizzled out and TVLine confirmed the TV project was “officially dead” in 2014.

Now, in the midst of an ’90s reboot boom including The Gilmore Girls, Full House, and Twin Peaks, it seems people are more keen than ever. Assuming it’s done in the right way, that is. Holly Marie Combs has been the first co-star to respond to Milano’s latest announcement, posting a message on her Instagram this morning.

“Piper just heard about the Charmed ‘reboot’,” it reads. “She says we wish them well. Again.” Something about the inverted commas, short sentences, and picture of her holding a giant knife suggests she’s not so chuffed about it.

Most fans don’t quite know how to feel either. A long-standing Facebook page calling for a Charmed reunion is simultaneously urging its 24,000 fans to put pressure on CBS for a revival with the original cast instead, while also telling them to calm down until we know more.

This about sums it up:
