Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has admitted he “crossed the line” by flirting with other women, but has flatly denied he participated in a lengthy affair with an Instagram model.

The American singer — who is perhaps best known for writing an entire album about his ex-girlfriend — has responded to claims that he cheated on his wife of eight years with Instagram model Sumner Stroh after a revelatory TikTok video posted by Stroh exposed text messages allegedly from Levine suggesting the name “Sumner” as an option for his unborn child.

In a statement on his personal Instagram account, Levine admitted to speaking to others in a “flirtatious manner”, but directly denied participating in an “affair” with Stroh.

“A lot is being said about me right now and I want to clear the air,” Levine posted in an Instagram story. “I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner. I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life, In certain instances it became inappropriate; I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family.”

While Levine doesn’t refer to Stroh by name, he does mention that his “flirtatious manner” extended to “others”, which could signal that the frontman is expecting more women to come forward following Stroh’s video. After directly denying accusations of cheating, Levine also attempted to claim his wife-guy status, sharing that his wife Behati Prinsloo and young family were “all I care about in the world”.

“To be this naïve and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We will get through it. And we will get through it together,” Levine continued.

Meanwhile, Stroh has posted a follow-up video to TikTok, sharing more of her motivations for outing her relationship with Levine.

“Something I now realise I didn’t touch on enough was the fact that one of my friends had attempted to sell [the story],” Stroh said, further asserting that she was under the impression that Levine and Prinsloo’s marriage was “over”.

“I just assumed with that with celebrities of that calibre that that’s just it was. And that’s why I feel exploited, because he knew that I believed everything he said.

“As soon as I had realised that was not the case, I had cut things off with him.”

Behati Prinsloo is still yet to comment on the allegations.
