Remember that viral video roasting dickheads who wear their gym clothes literally everywhere for absolutely no reason? Well, the creators of that video are back, and they’re working on a new half-hour comedy pilot that will air on YouTube Originals in 2018.

This will be the first time Skitbox has ventured into longer narrative storytelling, but if their work on shorter sketches is anything to go by, it’s gonna be awesome. The all-female Australian comedy trio have been kicking comedy goals since bursting onto the scene with Activewear in 2015 — since then, they’ve had hits with period drama I Got That Flow, and a six-part sketch series Wham Bam Thank You Ma’am that recently aired on the ABC.

Their new show comes thanks to support from Screen Australia and YouTube, as part of their Skip Ahead initiative, a program that aims to help online creators make the jump into longer-format projects. Group member Adele Vuko said the trio were stoked to have the opportunity to try their hand at something new — “up until now we’ve only worked on sketch,” she said, “and to have the opportunity to delve into narrative story telling is really exciting for us”.

Skitbox say their new project will be something in the vein of Flight of the Conchords, where group members Sarah Bishop, Greta Lee Jackson and Adele Vuko will play heightened versions of themselves coming together to navigate a male-dominated industry. That’s all we know about it so far, but if you can’t wait, don’t fret — you can see them all this Thursday in the premiere of new Foxtel sketch comedy show The Slot, which also features a tonne of other great Aussie comedians like Natalie Tran, Aunty Donna and Superwog.

We’ll let you know when the new show drops.
