A new digital information and resource platform, TransHub, has been launched for all trans and gender diverse people in NSW, their loved ones, allies and health providers.

The initiative was launched today to help mark the International Trans Day of Visibility.
TransHub is an initiative from ACON, NSW’s leading health organisation specialising in community health, inclusion and HIV responses for people of diverse sexualities and genders.

TransHub was created in response to concerns over difficulties for the trans community in accessing appropriate information, particularly in relation to gender affirmation and health.

The online platform includes comprehensive and inclusive information to support the health of TGD people, including about sexual and reproductive health, mental health, cancer screening, substance use, domestic violence and sexual assault.

Visitors can find information on a diverse range of issues experienced by the TGD community, such as coming out, understanding dysphoria, finding a doctor, navigating government agencies like Centrelink and the ATO, updating gender markers on birth certificates, and much more.

Talking to Junkee, Teddy Cook, ACON Manager of Trans and Gender Diverse Health Equity told us that they were excited to launch TransHub on Trans Day of Visibility, a day that’s all about celebrating and empowering trans people and communities.

“Having a platform such as TransHub, that offers accurate, evidence-based and accessible information by, for, and about, trans people is really powerful and will make a profoundly meaningful difference to the lives of trans and gender diverse people across NSW, and those who support, work with and love us. Trans people experience harm when we can’t access appropriate information, particularly in relation to gender affirmation and health.”

Teddy Cook also points out that TransHub was been built, written and dressed by trans people, for trans people.

“It was also important to us that we collaborated with as many different trans people as possible and have proudly consulted, created opportunities for, commissioned and supported hundreds of community members to bring TransHub to life.

“TransHub is dedicated to the trans women, trans men and non-binary people who came before, who led the way, who were lost too soon. To those who struggle and to those who thrive, to those who are yet to know their true selves, or to be known by others. We deserve to be proud.”
