The social media teams at ABC offices around the country have been given a brief reprieve from deleting abusive Facebook comments to trash-talk each other online, all for your enjoyment.

It’s truly the greatest media war since Lee Lin Chin and other beloved Aussie journos recreated that iconic news team fight scene from Anchorman.

The kerfuffle was kicked off by ABC Darwin, naturally, because everyone knows our fourth estate in the NT truly does not give a fuck.

In a Facebook post they asked readers for their thoughts on a proposed “travel bubble” for the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia.

A prominent businessman based in the northern capital is calling for border controls to be eased between the three jurisdictions, who have recorded less COVID-19 cases than other states and are also enjoying looser restrictions.

It didn’t take long for ABC Hobart to sound off in the comments section, claiming their Darwin colleagues had been crossed off the Christmas card list for the oversight.

But Darwin fired back with the most savage burn you could inflict on a Tasmanian: “You’re lucky we even included you in the map”.

From there, the social media teams at ABC offices across the country kicked off.

ABC Canberra tried to flex on the others by boasting their “Canberra bubble” had zero cases, but even the lure of a sanctuary free from a global pandemic wasn’t enough to make Australia’s capital enticing.

Used to being the centre of attention in any national debate, Sydney chimed in with: “Hard not to take this personally, guys”.

That led to the Sunny Coast team taking a sneaky dig, claiming, “it’s for your own good. We don’t want Noosa looking like Bondi”.

Also from the Queensland camp came this highly chaotic DIY meme from ABC Brisbane.

After all the drama, it seems ABC Perth has no interest in such an arrangement anyway.

“Change your clocks to WA time and ditch daylight savings and then we’ll talk,” they wrote.

But they saved the sickest insult for the Queenslanders with the below meme, which there really is no coming back from.
