Video Journalist

Australia’s leading youth content publisher Junkee Media has a rare opening for a gun video journalist to join our editorial team in Sydney (Surry Hills).

Junkee launched almost three years ago with a remit to shake up Australia’s pop culture landscape. With a fresh take and unique attitude, Junkee quickly established itself as one of the most interesting new voices in Australian media. Junkee was named Media Brand of the Year at the Mumbrella Awards in its first year online, and its funny, smart, ballsy and interesting take on news, film, politics, TV and more has seen it develop a strong following.

Now we’re on the hunt for a full-time video journalist to help us grow our footprint. As a member of both the editorial and video teams you will need to pro-actively come up with video ideas every day, then shoot, arrange interviews and edit engaging video content that looks at topics young Australians are most interested in.

The ideal candidate will “think video” and be a digital native with an understanding of what video works best online, and how to create it. Maybe you studied video journalism at university, or you have some solid experience in creating amazing video content already, have great organisational skills and time management, and – most importantly – have a keen interest in pop culture and all of the content that surrounds it. We want someone who can easily express their attitude and take on the world with video.

Junkee is a funny and smart take on the wider world around us, so if you think you’ve got what it takes to be Junkee’s Video Journalist send your cover letter and CV with the subject line Junkee Video Journalist to [email protected] by Friday February 19.
