Warm Tunas Is Back With Its Predictions For 2020’s Hottest 100
And the top 20 is already full of surprises.
Well, it’s that time of year again — 100 Warm Tunas, the website that predicts the winners of the Hottest 100, has just gone live.
100 Warm Tunas isn’t the only predictor of the biggest countdown in Australian radio, of course; every Tom, Dick and Harry tries their best to guess at which musicians will take out the poll. But Warm Tunas has the advantage of using real, actually cast votes. Scouring social media for publicly posted vote tallies, the site then aggregates the raw data, and works out which songs pop up the most frequently.
That means that the site gets more accurate the more votes get cast and posted publicly. So, keeping in mind that we’re still in very early days, Warm Tunas’ list should be taken with something of a grain of salt. At least for now, anyway.
But hey, it still shows some really interesting results — currently, the site lists ‘Booster Seat’ by Spacey Jane as the Hottest 100-topping song. Which checks out, to be honest; the ballad has been a dark horse for the top spot ever since it first dropped, and its momentum hasn’t slowed down one iota.
Elsewhere, we’ve gone Flume and Toro y Moi’s massive ‘The Difference’, along with cuts from G Flip, Ruel, Billie Eilish and more.
Oh, and ‘WAP’ is in there too, although around about the 16th spot. Will we see that number shoot up? Who knows. All we can say at this stage is that it’s shaping out to be a very interesting race indeed.
