Easily one of the best parts of Christmas is driving around to look at all the effort random people have put into lighting up their homes for the festive season.

But the search for the best home is over. Overnight Melbourne has proved that they’ve won the Christmas light game thanks to a couple of legends who have turned their homes into tributes to the Dan Andrews ‘Get on the Beers’ remix.

Yep, not one but TWO separate houses down in Kings Park and Sandringham have dedicated their 2020 displays to one of the greatest tracks of this year: The ‘Get on the Beers (Featuring Dan Andrews)’ remix by Mashd N Kutcher.

The first home is located in Kings Park is easily the most impressive, with LED lights on the front of the house perfectly timed to spell out each word Dan Andrews spoke.

Then, when the beat drops, the whole house basically turns the street into an impromptu rave location. The dedication and effort here is truly a sight to behold.

But the impressive nature of this light display in particular isn’t surprising at all. This Kings Park home is well-known for their over-the-top Christmas lights that sync up perfectly with music.

Minh Tuan Nguyen, the 22-year-old legend behind the Kings Park light display has been doing the tireless task for seven years. Last year alone, he programmed his home to sync with 12 different songs like ‘Takeaway’ by The Chainsmokers and ‘Lighter Than Air’ by MaRLo and Feenixpawl.

Talking to journalist Ruth BarberNguyen explained that the whole affair takes a lot of time, especially since he’s entirely self-taught.

“It’s something I whipped up myself — I learned from the internet,” Nguyen told the site. “It took me about 15 days to set up the lights, and 10 to 14 days to program each song on the computer.”

While the second home in Sandringham doesn’t exactly mirror the lyrics to ‘Get on the Beers’, the multi-colour light show actually does feature footage of Dan Andrews from the original ‘Beers’ press conference. And I mean, Australia has no culture? Try again, sweetie.

In case you need a refresher, the Victorian premier famously said: “You won’t be able to go to the pub, because the pub is shut. That doesn’t mean you can have all your mates around to home, and get on the beers. That’s not appropriate. It’s not essential, it’s not needed and all it will do is spread the virus,” before it was chopped up by Mashd N Kutcher.

But despite this original ‘Beers’ press conference happening back in April, Mashd N Kutcher’s remix has ensured that Australia won’t ever forget Dan Andrew’s comments.

After releasing the track in April, the ‘Get on the Beers’ remix quickly shot up the iTunes chart and even cracked the Top 20. Since then, the remix has gone off at festivals over in Perth and has now become Australia’s new unofficial 2020 Christmas anthem.

Now we know what’s needed next, so here’s hoping Minh Tuan Nguyen hears our pleas for 2021.
