Dwayne Johnson has lent his star power to a new HBO documentary about youth offenders in the overcrowded US prison system.

Titled Rock and a Hard Place, because who can resist a good pun, the film follows a group of inmates enrolled in the four-month Miami-Dade County Corrections & Rehabilitation Boot Camp, a program whose graduates have a much lower rate of recidivism.

Johnson served as executive producer on the film, and can be seen in the trailer delivering a pep-talk to the prisoners, telling them “don’t fuck this up”.

As the trailer also points out, America has the world’s largest prison population. Rock and a Hard Place looks like a strong companion piece to Ava DuVernay’s blistering documentary on mass incarceration The 13th.

Rock and a Hard Place hits HBO in the US on March 27.
