Kylie Jenner’s Bizarre ‘WAP’ Cameo Has Become A Massive New Meme
Where did Kylie go when she walked through that door? The internet thinks it knows.
We talk a lot about cultural resets these days — moments that serve as a pivot point for online discourse. But in recent years we’ve had no cultural reset as dramatic as the one provided by ‘WAP’, the new single from Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion.
In the days since the song and its accompanying clip went live, it has provoked all kinds of discussions. Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro decided that it was full of enough sexual content to hobble the feminist movement. Internet commenters decided that it was full of too much Kylie Jenner. It spawned petitions, memes, thinkpieces. It has been basically all anyone has wanted to talk about for nigh on four days.
And ya know what? All that content has been funny. Even Shapiro’s nonsense managed to kickstart a whole train of memes taking the piss out of the conservative.
But of them all, perhaps no trend has been as amusing as the one based on a single, brief moment from the clip — the scene where Jenner walks around a corner, and opens a door.
For those you have yet to see the video, the Jenner moment happens at 1:48. Watch it here, so you’re up to speed:
Anyway, like all great memes, the resulting trend is very simple — a bait and switch that grows more amusing each time you see it.
I mean, just watch:
