Walt Disney World Is The Perfect Post-Pandemic Getaway For Pop Culture Lovers

Alright, we’ve had enough. We’d all like this pandemic to wrap up now, please and thank you very much. We need travel back on the agenda. Travel that helps us live out our dreams, travel that inspires and excites, and travel that scratches that pop-culture itch you’ve carried around since you’ve been sequestered in your home. We want fun, for the sake of fun.

The good news is that, while things might not yet be back to normal, the time has come to at least start dreaming and anticipating fun being back on the agenda soon. So you better start planning for the perfect post-pandemic getaway to pop culture heaven – that’s Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Four Theme Parks, Two Water Parks, One World

Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is actually four theme parks and two water parks wrapped up into one exciting world. The entire Resort property is almost five times the size of inner city Sydney! There are so many ways to immerse yourself in the pop culture and thrills on offer, no matter your favourite flavour of experience.

The four parks include Disney’s Hollywood Studios, home to the new and immersive Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It’s the only place in the world you can live out your Star Wars dreams to fly the Millennium Falcon, build your own lightsaber, and see life-sized X-wings and TIE fighters.

Then there’s Toy Story Land for Pixar die-hards and people who grew up with the movies. Ride the Slinky Dog Dash coaster (yes, you ride aboard a fully-stretched out Slinky) and see some of your favourite characters as they roam around the park befriending visitors.

You can also tour Magic Kingdom to live out the Disney princess life at the iconic Cinderella Castle, which has just undergone a “royal makeover”, or ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. There’s truly no end to the fun here though, with Magic Kingdom also being home to some of the classics:  Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, It’s A Small World, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Or head to Epcot where you’ll find Arendelle from Frozen, or Chef Gusteau’s kitchen from Ratatouille – which opened in 2020 – as well as a road-running adrenaline experience at the Chevrolet-presented Test Track. There’s also the Seas with Nemo and Friends, where you can ride the East Australian Current with Crush the sea turtle and little dude Squirt, then explore the aquarium to meet real clown fish, sharks, and more submarine sea life.

And then there’s Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where you can hike through the floating mountains and bioluminescent wildlife of Pandora from Avatar, or see live theatrical experiences inspired by classic Disney films like The Lion King’s Circle of Life, which is reopening later in 2021.

And to top all that off, you can also check out Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach water parks for water slides, tranquil river floats, sandy beaches, and water coasters for an added thrill.

It’s Time To Start Planning

If you’re anything like us, your fingers are tingling with anticipation, ready to lock in a flight and escape overseas as soon as it’s possible. Sure, an international escape just isn’t possible right this minute. But there are promising signs that, soon, airlines will start scheduling flights, borders will reopen, and we can once again start taking jaunts around the world. We’re cautiously optimistic, and think all lovers of travel should be, too.

There are so many accommodation options at Walt Disney World, from campgrounds up to deluxe villas and resorts, ensuring everyone can make the most of the action.
