Everyone’s In The ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ Trailer, From Bruce Lee To Charles Manson
Plus Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate!
Say what you like about Quentin Tarantino, but the man doesn’t do things by halves, as the first trailer for his new film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood proves.
Whereas other filmmakers might keep their 1969-set Hollywood drama relatively light on cameos, lest they accidentally overwhelm viewers, Tarantino has gone full hog and stuffed his film full of them.
So, while Sharon Tate, the ill-fated one-time wife of Roman Polanski, is taking centre stage (portrayed by Australia’s own Margot Robbie, no less), there’s a whole load of famous faces waiting in the wings, too, including but not limited to Charles Manson (played by Australia’s own Damon Harriman) and Bruce Lee (Mike Moh).
Watch the trailer, and then we’ll meet back up below.
First things first: Moh deserves all the plaudits in the world for that Lee impression. He’s nailed everything, from the look, to the warbly, strained voice, to the stiff-backed posture.
Although, of course, it should be remembered that Tarantino’s historical projects don’t exactly scream accuracy — Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds are revenge epics that at some point just give up on history altogether and go their own way.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Once Upon A Time In Hollywood does the same, and if so, how it will be received by the summarily hot take obsessed modern film-writing community.

Oh, also — hard to beat a Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt team-up, to be honest. Particularly in a film that also contains a scene where a young girl tells an emotional DiCaprio that he’s the best actor she’s ever seen (now that’s a fucking note.)
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood releases in Australian cinemas this August 15, a whole three weeks after the Americans, because the distribution industry in this country is completely broken.
