There’s a few ways you can show support for Sydney’s under threat live music scene: you can turn up to protests, contact your state MP, and, most integrally, vote on March 23. You can also, you know, go out — and next Thursday, you could go to #UniteForTheNight, a benefit gig at The Metro Theatre.

Organised by the non-profit Night Time Industries Association, a coalition of NSW’s hospitality and late-night venues/figures, arts organisations and artists, the gig is raising money for their ongoing efforts to fight against punitive laws which restrict the state’s night time economy.

It’s the beginning of a quick campaign leading up to the state election on March 23, off the back of the huge turn out at the Don’t Kill Live Music rally.

The night will feature a troupe of Sydney musicians performing for free, including Gordi, I Know Leopard, Josh Pyke and Eskimo Joe’s Kav Temperley. It’ll be hosted by Danny Clayton, and also feature stand up sets from Cameron James, Mel Buttle, Matt Okine and Tom Ballard.

There will be some surprise guests too, with more  musicians to be announced.

Tickets are $50 +bf, and available on The Metro Theatre’s website. You know what to do.
