In a couple of weeks time, the highly anticipated (and guaranteed-to-be-Oscar-nommed) film Boy Erased will land in cinemas around the world.

Adapted by Aussie actor Joel Edgerton from Garrard Conley’s memoir of the same name, the harrowing film follows a teenage boy in a small American town whose devout Christian family places him in a “conversion therapy” program after he reveals to them that he’s gay.

Perfect human and pop star Troye Sivan has a small part in the film and also contributed a number of songs to the soundtrack — one of which is ‘Revelation’, which garnered an official release today.

It was written and recorded with his frequent collaborator Leland and Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi — and believe us when we say the track will give you goosebumps. It’s already been tipped as a potential Oscar winner for Best Original Song, and it’s already picked up a nomination for the same award at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.

“Joel showed us a scene from the movie, and I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s one moment of relief in the film,” Sivan told the crowd before he premiered the song at New York’s Radio City Music Hall last week. “It’s this one really sweet, tender moment where Jared [the main character] does something that I would consider pure and beautiful and normal and romantic.”

“I was ready to sell my soul,” Sivan later said about being asked to contribute to the soundtrack. “I said, ‘You can have any song that I’ve ever written, I’ll write new ones, I’ll do anything.'”
