This New Horror Movie With Jennifer Lawrence And Javier Bardem Will Make Your Skin Crawl
This cannot possibly end well.
Basements, man. Stay away from them. Particularly when there’s bloody seeping out of the goddamn walls.
mother! (spelled like that because ~cinema~) is the new psychological horror film from writer-director Darren Aronofsky, the same guy behind Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream. He’s not really a filmmaker who believes in the power of understatement, which is definitely something that comes across in this trailer.
The film stars Jennifer Lawrence as a woman whose idyllic marriage to Javier Bardem (nice) takes a turn for the worse after he suddenly invites Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer to come and live with them. This seems like a pretty weird thing for him to do, especially since they’re clearly witches. Is Bardem a witch too? I can only assume the answer to that question is yes, absolutely he is.

The film’s distributor, Paramount Pictures, also recently tweeted a pair of posters for the film – and again, the vibes are really bloody creepy.
