We Finally Know When Tool’s New Album Will Be Released
About. Bloody. Time.
After 11 long years of waiting and wanting, Tool have revealed their new album will definitely be out in 2018.
The band’s drummer Danny Carey confirmed the good news during a recent interview with MetalSucks Podcast, saying the band are currently putting the finishes touches on the record.
“It’ll be out. It’ll be out in 2018,” Carey said. “We’ll probably have it done in the first half [of 2018] if things go as planned. There’s setup times and manufacturing — I can never predict all that. It seems like it’s constantly evolving.”
When pressed on a more specific date for the album release, Carey didn’t give up any details: “I can’t tell you.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time Tool have promised us the new album, which will be the followup to 2006’s 10,000 Days. They initially promised it would be delivered way back in 2014, but that deadline came and went with no new music surfacing.
It looked somewhat likely that 2017 could be the magical year: the band were booked to headline a number of festivals, and their bassist Justin Chancellor said the band were “about 90 percent there“. But, alas, that was also a dead end.
So could 2018 actually be the year we see Tool’s new album? We’re bloody hoping so.
