Everyone’s favourite boy Timothée Chalamet is set to play Willy Wonka in a film titled Wonka, which will tell the story of a young Wonka and his life before opening the most famous chocolate factory in the world, according to Deadline.

Roald Dahl’s chocolate-maker was first brought to life in 1971 by Gene Wilder and then again in 2005  by Johnny Depp who took over the chocolate factory in Tim Burton’s adaptation, which made a huge $475 million worldwide. Our dear Chalamet has some pretty big — and creepy — shoes to fill.

The new Wonka origin movie will be directed by Paul King (Paddington) who wrote the screenplay with comedian Simon Farnaby (British Horrible Histories).

Sources have also confirmed that Oscar-nominated Chalamet will be singing and dancing throughout the film, and fans on social are having an absolute field day.

People have also been making jokes about the actor starring in every possible origin story imaginable, and it’s a truly wonderful sight to behold.

From being pretend-cast as the young Rose in a Titanic prequel to an ‘even younger’ Hans for a SOLO prequel, we’re totally here for it.

Wonka is set to be released in 2023, so for now let’s just keep casting Chalamet in every possible prequel under the sun please and thank you.
