This MP Who Tried To Rig His Own Anti-Dan Andrews Facebook Poll Still Managed To Lose

"The kicker is he forgot the care react, and check out this react ratio."

A Victorian MP who has made trolling Daniel Andrews his personal mission throughout the pandemic has been widely shamed for trying to rig a Facebook poll — and losing anyway.

Last night Tim Smith, the LNP Member for Kew, posted an image to Facebook asking people to use the reactions to vote on whether the premier should resign. All reacts were rigged to correspond to “yes”, which I’m sure he thought was very clever — before he realised he forgot the include the care reaction.

He’s now been massively ratio’d on his own post, with the care reaction getting more than 27,000 likes while the other six options have received around 4,600 combined (as of 10.30am).

He also shared the image to Twitter despite, you know, Twitter not having any react buttons.

For most of this year there was a bit of an unspoken agreement that MPs would put petty politics aside and present a more united front as the country grappled with the coronavirus. The last few weeks have well and truly tossed that out the window, but it was nice while it lasted.

But Smith never got the memo and has spent the last few months lobbing personal insults at the premier and attacking the state government’s response, coining the nickname “Dictator Dan”. It’s been so bad he’s been accused of undermining the state Opposition Leader Michael O’Brian, who’s tried to keep him in line with no success.

People are now very much enjoying the fallout of Smith’s spectacular own-goal.
