Last week, to cap off the delightfully batshit Requestival, polymath and veteran funnyman Tim Minchin dropped by the triple j studios for a special Like A Version.

In keeping with the Requestival spirit, he was tasked with covering songs triple j listeners had chosen for him — including Ball Park Music’s ‘Exactly How You Are’Coolio’s ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’, Sia’s ‘Chandelier’, and BENEE’s ‘Glitter’.

“The pressure’s off because it’s not gonna be very good is it?” He quipped in the middle of it all. “This is gonna be a low quality 15 minutes of radio.”

He then dived into a cover of Billie Eilish’s ‘bad guy’, turning the Hottest 100 winner into a polka-rock track, complete with a chaotic accordion arrangement and some guttural guitar. It was completely and utterly bonkers — Minchin even attempts a Russian accent at the end — so really, it was the perfect cover to finish off the Requestival week.

Get stuck into his covers below — more can be found on the triple j website.
