Last night at Sydney’s Dee Why RSL, The Wiggles finally played their much-publicised adults-only show, and by all accounts they freaking nailed it. The premise was pure: a 25th anniversary show where no kids were allowed, only adults regressing for reasons that probably shouldn’t be examined.

Nah, it did look pretty fun. In case you were unaware, this was the OG Wiggles, not their modern replacements. The soothing voice of Greg! The chirpy electric guitar of Murray! The hilariously narcoleptic Jeff! The whole gang was back togther and they were LOVING it.

According to The Guardian, there were 700 people packed into the sold-out show, who even enthusiastically sang along to ‘Hot Potato’ when the power shorted out and they were flung into darkness. The concept may seem a little strange but after watching some videos from the night, it’s very hard to make fun of this. It’s just so… cute? In a very comforting way? Safe to say, the crowd was putty in The Wiggles’ hands.

“Don’t forget for the fruit salad, we’re going to need some melons!” Greg said, as hundreds of punters screamed and raised their beers into the air.

The event was more than an anniversary celebration. The Wiggles were actually raising money for their friend David Savage, a wounded war vet, and raising awareness for Soldier On Australia, an organisation that helps wounded soldiers returning from service. Judging by the success of last night, they’ll be getting Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword and Wags the Dog back for repeat performance soon.

It’s so weird! But also, so adorable!
