Detectives are today commencing a forensic search of Lynette Dawson’s former Bayview home. Dawson’s disappearance and suspected murder in 1982 are the subject of the immensely popular true-crime podcast The Teacher’s Pet.

Detectives from the Homicide Squad’s Unsolved Homicide Unit established the Strike Force Scriven in 2015, which aims to investigate the circumstances surrounding Lynette Dawson’s disappearance.

As part of that investigation, detectives have begun a forensic search at Dawson’s former home at Bayview.

The Teacher’s Pet is a podcast produced by The Australian and hosted by the publication’s national chief correspondent Hedley Thomas. It’s had over 17 million downloads in Australia and overseas.

It explores the unexplained disappearance of 33-year-old Sydney mother of two Lynette Dawson, who was last seen on January 8, 1982. The podcast investigates and places a hefty dose of suspicion on her husband, Chris Dawson, who at the time of Lynette’s disappearance was having an “intense sexual affair” with his 16-year-old student.

It also unearths new evidence and angles, from key witnesses who are only now stepping forward.
