Office Christmas Party is an upcoming comedy which does about what it says on the tin. It is Christmas time. There is an office (I don’t know what happens inside it, shh that couldn’t be further from the point). The office is filled with a random collection of people getting absolutely wrecked and wreaking vengeance on company property with Jäger-fuelled rage and various bodily fluids.

The plot of this thing is kept to such a bare minimum that the title of the film is literally just white-on-black Helvetica.

“Ugh, can we just have your $23 already?”

The real appeal of all this is actually in the cast. Starring Kate McKinnon, Jason Bateman, Jillian Bell, Jennifer Anniston, Olivia Munn, TJ Miller, Vanessa Bayer, Matt Walsh, Rob Cordry and more, the film is basically a feature-length reenactment of what I imagine happened at the SNL 40th anniversary party last year.

Office Christmas Party doesn’t have a bad creative team behind it. It’s written by Perrier Award-winning comedian Laura Solon, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (who both wrote extensively for The Office); and it’s directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck (Blades of Glory). But I think we can all agree that the film’s biggest selling point is Kate McKinnon wearing daggy Christmas jumpers while creeping people out and talking about “intercourse”.

More of this please.

Office Christmas Party will hit cinemas in the US December 9.
