We’ve teamed up with Heineken to discover the best new, old and must-visit hidden gems that are local favourites in each of Australia’s capital cities. Our in-the-know locals will unlock the secrets of their home town; find out what’s happening right now around you at openyourcity.com.au.

Mitchell Orr knows how to eat. In 2010, the Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide declared him ‘Young Chef of the Year’; the same year, he became co-head chef at Duke Bistro in Darlinghurst, and led them to a prized Chef Hat.

With time spent in the kitchens at Pilu (Freshwater) and Sepia (Sydney), and a stint staging at Osteria Francescana in Italy (ranked #3 on the World’s Top 50 list), Orr gained a new following for his pasta degustation as head chef at Buzo Trattoria, and was a founding member of the Taste Of Young Sydney collective, which included other notables like Dan Hong, Adriana Zumbo and Tetsuya’s Darren Robertson.

After spending time in the kitchen at 121bc, you can now find Mitchell at Paddington’s 10 William Street, or on Instagram @instakrill. We asked him for a list of Sydney’s ten best-kept secrets — which we’re about to ruin for the locals…
